The patented “high-power technology” is based on an increase in the force generated by the hydraulic or pneumatic pressure over inclined planes in the cylinder. Clever use of the necessary elements not only results in up to three times higher clamping force and up to seven times higher holding force than comparable sizes, but also a mechanical locking mechanism that enables a holding force even at 0 bar. This creates new applications for clamping elements or may save additional elements, such as pressure maintenance valves, pressure booster and the like.

Furthermore, this technology allows the use of pneumatic clamps, where previously hydraulic systems were needed. High-precision, backlash-free, torsion and bending moment stable robotic tool changer expand the application range of investment-intensive machines from “pick and place” to demanding machining and assembly tasks such as deburring, screwing, press-fitting and assembly of components or subassemblies, which would not be possible today without KOSMEK technology.
